Popular messaging app WhatsApp is now going to offer free services to its users.  the official blog of the WhatsApp is reported this along with WhatsApp founder Jan Koum announced Monday that the company is dropping the service’s annual subscription fee in an effort to remove the barriers some users faced in using the service.

The decision were taken because many users were without debit / credit card and were unable to connect with the family and friends after ending trial period of one year.

This feature will be rolled out slowly in different versions of the WhatsApp in coming weeks. As per blog post.

Although it claims to be paid from second year; no one doesn’t paid a penny to use WhatsApp in India. So the company is thinking towards different business revenue model to earn from.

What would be revenue model of WhatsApp / How it will earn ?

Many of us will think that removal of the charges may lead to inclusion of the third party advertisements but company had denied for the third party advertisement

Here is a blog post which says there wont be third party advertisements

Naturally, people might wonder how we plan to keep WhatsApp running without subscription fees and if today’s announcement means we’re introducing third-party ads. The answer is no. Starting this year, we will test tools that allow you to use WhatsApp to communicate with businesses and organizations that you want to hear from. That could mean communicating with your bank about whether a recent transaction was fraudulent, or with an airline about a delayed flight. We all get these messages elsewhere today – through text messages and phone calls – so we want to test new tools to make this easier to do on WhatsApp, while still giving you an experience without third-party ads and spam.

to sustain in the market and continue to business operations with profit company is thinking for the new avenues which will connect you to he business from which you may want to hear. This means businesses can contact you directly on your WhatsApp which communication is being made with the other media like Text Messages and Voice calls.

These businesses will in turn pay WhatsApp for opening up a new and easy channel of communication with their users. This definitely is a win-win-win for users, Businesses as well as WhatsApp.

Till now WhatsApp doesn’t opened up officially its API to businesses but we can expect the same step can be taken with this.
